Mathis McKenna competes in 2024 Canadian Futures Showcase

This past week (September 16th to September 21st) was held the 10th annual Toronto Blue Jays Canadian Futures Showcase at the Rogers Centre in Toronto.

Over 1,700 players aged 15 to 18 tried out all over Canada for one of the 150 roster spots available for the showcase.

One of the players to make it to the Rogers Centre was Mathis McKenna who played for MBA from 2019 to 2023.

The showcase splits players evenly between six teams to compete against each other in a tournament-style format, starting with a scout day and concluding with a prospects game and home run derby on the final day.

Mathis was the starting pitcher of Team Navy on Thursday, September 26th. He was on the mound for the first 3 innings on the game. His outing went very well earning him the title of "Player of the game".

Mathis' outing was good enough to get him an invite to the Saturday Prospect game and play for Team Bautista.

In the Prospects game, Mathis was even named the starting pitcher for his team.

In all, it was a great week for our former standout southpaw and recent Rutgers University commit at the 2024 Canadian Futures Showcase. Good luck in the future Mathis !!!
